OMGD: Deep Dive into Northern Rhone

The Northern Rhône vineyards are situated on steep slopes next to the Rhône river, south of Lyon. This positon and climate demands a unique way of planting and cultivating the vines. Known for its excellent Syrah and Viognier wines, we will dive further into the valley, discuss and taste other grape variaties and discover the reasons for their success. Additionally,  you will 'visit' the various regions, such as Condrieu, Saint-Joseph and Hermitage, and discover the unique differences in character and flavor that each of them brings.

Dejeuner Amical bij de Gaffel

Chers Consœurs et Confrères,

Graag nodigen wij u uit in te schrijven voor de lunch op donderdag 22 mei a.s. bij restaurant De Gaffel in Valthe.De ervaringen met dit restaurant zijn erg goed en we gaan er graag weer naartoe.
Patron-cuisinier Roderik Seubers en zijn partner,gastvrouw en sommelier Amanda Rixtum willen ons graag ontvangen.
Op de scheiding van de Hondsrug en het lage veengebied ligt dit restaurant in een fraai gerestaureerde Saksische boerderij.Ruim 5 km ten noorden van Emmen.                                                                                                                                      
Roderik Seubers is al sinds 2003 de eigenaar en chef-kok van dit restaurant.Hij verkreeg veel van zijn kennis van zijn opa met wie hij vele uren in de keuken heeft doorgebracht. Gastvrouw Amanda Rixtum maakt het de gasten comfortabel in een huiselijke en ongedwongen sfeer.

OMGD: Raise your spirits: Brandy

This evening will familiarise you to the essentials of brandy. It is the English word for "brandewijn", made famous by the Dutch. Now it stands for all high quality alcoholic drinks distilled from wine. Over the course of the evening, you will taste many different brandy's and learn about the differences in character, taste and process from countries like France, Spain and Italy. Yes! Think Calvados, Cognac, Grappa and Pisco.

OMGD Autumn Sparkling Tasting

It's time to let it all sparkle and bubble! But not all fizz brings out the joy that Champagne and other high-quality sparkling wines have. So you get to smell, taste and feel the bubbles jump on your tongue and coat your throat. You will meet wines from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the New World, amongst others. And what better location to do this then at a wine bar?
